“Blacksmith at Lealholm”
The blacksmith, John Rodgers of Ingleneuk, Lealholmside is shoeing a horse called ‘Old Nance’ at Lealholm Hall Farm whilst Willie Wren looks on.
Besides shoeing horses, a blacksmith’s shop was the equivalent of our local garage, responsible for keeping things ‘on the move’ and the iron hoops seen here were heated and shrunk onto the wooden wheels of carts and wagons.
