The donkey 'Jane Trotter' used to carry two churns of milk slung over her back and knew the milk round as well as her master.
Stood with the donkey is John Marwood who had a small-holding at Ewe Cote close to where the Sutcliffe family lived for a number of years. The girl is thought to be Mary ‘Polly’ Marwood, daughter of John. One of the award winning photographs taken by Frank Meadow Sutcliffe, Hon. F.R.P.S. (1853-1941).
