"The Mudlarks"
Situated on the area between Burgess Pier, which can be seen in the background and the Fish Pier. Until 1766 Burgess Pier only consisted of large loose stones brought from a local quarry, after which it was greatly enlarged and extended. The naturally formed boulder, which the children are sat around, is probably from part of the original pier.
