Sir Alfred Pease, in ‘A Dictionary of The Dialect of the North Riding of Yorkshire’, published by Horne & Son, Whitby in 1928, defines a Tagreen Shop as “A second-hand marine store, a lower class shipchandler’s shop.”
Thought to have been taken at the bottom of Loggerheads Yard, off Baxtergate, Whitby.
