This delightful study of boys playing with a model boat near the bow of a fishing coble was taken at Runswick Bay.
Part of Sutcliffe’s genius was his ability to direct his subjects to appear totally lacking in camera - consciousness.
It was one of a selection of photographs which were exhibited at The Royal Photographic Society on January 2nd 1901
